What follows is a sample lesson from the 12-lesson PMP Exam Prep Course
which will enable you to experience most of the interactive features and
benefits found in the full course. Before you begin, please read the following technical issues
below.
Technical Requirements and Instructions
This online, interactive, multimedia-based
course is designed to satisfy the 35 hours of training that is required
prior to taking the Project Management Institute's PMP® Certification
Exam, but only if you complete all the lessons and engage in all of the
activities that are available.
Browser Issues and Requirements
- This course was built for use with
Microsoft® Internet Explorer. Many of the special visual
effects created with CSS files or JavaScript will not be visible with Netscape®, Mozilla Firefox® or
AOL® browsers.
- The streaming video
is played using Java technology. Your browser must be set to enable the
running of Java and JavaScript and I-Frames, which are normally default
conditions with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- The audio files
found in the Hot Topics flash cards are MP3 files. You may
experience a delay of a few seconds in their playing if you are using
a slower dial-up internet connection. You should not experience
any delay if you have a broadband internet connection.
- The My Gaps online notebook
feature is
used to record all of the "Gaps" in your knowledge, i.e., areas you identify that require further study. This notebook has
a limited 2,000 character capacity for storage, so please use
phrases and/or short sentences to describe each gap. Also, be sure to
click Save after each note-taking session. This
feature uses cookies to save your personal course notes to your hard
drive. Consequently, cookies must be enabled in your browser.
Course Organization Each lesson is organized in the same way:
-
An introductory video by the course's author, Rita Mulcahy, who
describes the significance of the lesson's subject to the exam-taker,
and provides examples and tips on what to focus on to be successful.
-
The
interactive tutorial that describes and defines the project
management terms and principles of each knowledge area using
interactive games, tips and tricks.
-
A
scored multiple-choice quiz that checks your
understanding of the topics covered in the tutorial and provides
feedback and analysis after each question.
-
Hot
Topics - a timed and audio-narrated deck of flashcards test your
ability to quickly respond to the wide range of questions that you
can expect to see on the timed exam.
-
A timed, 200-item final exam at the
end of the course provides an example of what to expect on the real
PMP exam.
Navigation
We highly recommend that the first
time through the course that you begin with Lesson 1 and proceed
through each subsequent lesson to the end of the course (Lesson 12).
Multiple navigation options such as jumping to a particular topic
within a lesson or jumping to a lesson out of sequence should only
be used after your initial time through the course.
